Welcome to KAP-SEIS
KAP-SEIS is an outreach project run by Keele University seismologist Ian Stimpson as part of the UK Schools Seismology Programme organised by the British Geological Survey.
With a grant awarded by the Petroleum Exploration Society of Great Britain and the British Geophysical Association and computers donated by Keele Information Technology Services, the School of Physical and Geographical Sciences at Keele University has donated seismometers for recording earthquakes to six schools in the second tranche of the project. This is in addition to the seven schools that were given seismometers in the first tranche in 2008 funded by the School of Physical and Geographical Sciences and KeeleLink
The PESGB have just announced funding for another round of seismometers for 2010/11 but preference will be given to regions currently not already covered by the project.
Seismometers can, however, be purchased from MUTR for just £435 ex VAT, and will will provide free training for schools in our region.

We are pleased to announce two earthquake shake down days for gifted and talented students at our partner schools.
On November 11, 2010 we will run a master class on earthquake data processing and at the end of February students will be invited back to present their own earthquake research.
More details will be sent to our partner schools soon.
