The NSGGA is the regional group of the Geologists’ Association in North Staffordshire.
Lecture meetings are held monthly during the autumn and winter, at 7.30pm at Keele University.
Field meetings are held at approximately monthly intervals over the spring and summer.

Summer Field Programme 2018
Saturday 7 July
Field trip: Wren’s Nest led by Graham Worton (BCGS)
Meet at 10.30am at the Caves Pub (DY13SB) on Wren’s Nest Road, Dudley (GridRef SO 93633 91633).
We will follow the geological trail starting at stop 1 and walking round the loop that will bring us back to car park at about 1pm. This will take in the full story of the geology, mining and the local people/tourism connections at this famous geology reserve.
This will be a gentle walk on good footpaths and there will be Silurian fossils to collect along the way. Warm & waterproof clothing & walking boots will be required. NO HAMMERS. The NNR car park is open 9.30am-4.00pm.
After 1pm. There will be a choice of activities e.g. Go on a boat trip in the canal tunnels under the Wren’s Nest, go for a pub lunch, have a picnic at the reserve or simply disperse.

Each person attending field meetings does so at their own risk. The NSGGA has public liability insurance through a GA insurance policy that also carries limited personal accident cover for members attending meetings or field trips. Non-members pay £2 to cover temporary membership giving them insurance cover. A field fee of £2 per head is normally charged for members and non-members to cover the leader’s expenses. Hard hats and hi-vis jackets should be taken on all field trips
