What we doDeveloped on the back of the Being Greener and Cleaner project based at Keele University, the project utilises expertise from areas of clean technology, physical and geographical sciences and environmental education to deliver activities and workshops to school children, school teachers, community groups and the general public. The events we attend are organised by a range of organisations and encompass many activities, including formal lectures, discussions and interactive experiments. These varied events share a common objective of engaging people in science and sustainability. This engagement takes place on different levels, whether involving adults in a debate on a controversial scientific issue, or simply raising children’s awareness of the world around them. Science for sustainability offer schools an exciting array of interactive, educational and inspiring workshops covering all aspects of the environment and sustainability. We cater for Key stage 1-4 and also post 16 education. We have lots of exciting demonstrations to bring into schools including our solar powered model cars, giant energy snakes and ladders, our very own bike generator and lots lots more! Or if you want a taste of the university campus we can run workshops at our unique Sustainability Hub or Laboratories for a full university experience. With over six years experience, the team have delivered activities in environmental and sustainability education and outreach to over 10,000 school pupils. Workshops can take place both at Keele and off-site at schools. The workshops are very flexible in content, and we are happy to customise sessions to meet the specific requirements of the audience involved. Our aim is to empower young people with knowledge about climate change, energy use and renewable energy and sustainable living to unleash their potential as energy and sustainability activists in their own homes and schools. Our enthusiastic, energetic approach ensures workshops deliver a fun, informative and highly interactive experience for staff and children alike. |
