Workshops - Energy

bike powerOur Energy workshops are activity packed providing the most up-to-date information on all aspects of energy, including the science of energy, sources of energy, consumption, electricity, efficiency, and environmental and economic impacts. The aim is to educate pupils about where energy comes from, the impact on the environment and energy efficiency.

By helping people to appreciate the electricity that they have at the flick of a switch, we aim to encourage everyone to waste less electricity!

During the sessions, students are invited to take part in the pedal power challenge, designed to demonstrate the principle of resistance and energy generation. The challenge uses special adapted bicycles which (if cycled hard enough!) can be used to light a bulb, charge a mobile phone, or even make a fruit smoothie!

In addition to this practical portion of the workshop, students are also being given the chance to learn more about how much energy they use, as well as how energy travels through circuits, dynamos and generators.
